bridal shop etiquette: understanding your role as a bride
Most women believe that as the bride they are to be treated like a princess. While you may get the royal treatment from your fiancée, friends and family it is important to remember that when visiting a bridal shop you still must maintain proper etiquette to receive the royal treatment that you want. Take a look at some of the following bridal shop rules of etiquette so that you can get the experience you always dreamed of and find the bridal gown you want.
v Make sure you book an appointment!- While you might be tempted to walk into a bridal shop and get ideas for your big day, most shops operate based on appointments. In order to try on and see various gowns you will traditionally be paired with a bridal consultant that is scheduled ahead of time.
v Don’t make it a family affair- Even though you are encouraged to bring someone to help you make your decisions and provide you with feedback, some bridal shops don’t have the capacity to house your parents, aunts, sisters, friends and anyone else you feel like bringing to your fitting. Additionally, you may want to reconsider bringing young children who can get bored and often wreak havoc in a formal bridal shop. When you call to schedule your appointment ask politely how many people may accompany you to your fitting.
v Come prepared- It can help both you and your bridal consultant if you come to your appointment with a basic knowledge of what you are looking for in a wedding dress. This can help you to pinpoint and narrow down the gowns that you might actually be interested in trying on, saving you both a headache.
